However, when America joined the war, the allies got a second wind, and the German's morale and hopes of winning were eminently crushed. With the arrival of fresh troops into France, and new tactics and weapons like the Trenchgun or the M1 Flamethrower, Germany eventually threw in the towel before things got worse.
