Answer:
x1=-1, x2=4/5

Step by step explanation:
5x^2 - 4 + x = 0
Use the commutative property to reorder the terms:
5x^2+x-4=0
Write x as a difference:
5x^2+5x-4x-4=0
Factor out 5x from the expression:
5xx(x-1)-4x - 4=0
Factor out -4 from the expression:
5xx(x+1) - 4 (x-1)=0
Factor out x+1 from the expression:
(x-1) x (5x-4) =0
When the product of factors equal 0 at least one factor is 0
X + 1 = 0
5x - 4 = 0
Solve the equation:
The equation has two solutions
X1=-1, x2 = 4/5

professor190 [17]

The mean of the number of pets which Spencer has surveyed for five of his friends is number 3.

<h3>What is mean of the data set?</h3>

The mean of the data is the average value of the given data. The mean of the data is the ratio of sum of all the values of data to the total number of values of data.

Spencer has surveyed five of his friends to known that how many pets they have.

His results are shown in the table below.  Cody has 1 Lara has 4 Sam has 5 Ella has 3 Maria has 2. There are total 5 friends. Thus the mean number of pets is:

\text{Mean}=\dfrac{1+4+5+3+2}{5}\\\text{Mean}=\dfrac{15}{5}\\\text{Mean}=3

Thus, the mean of the number of pets which Spencer has surveyed for five of his friends is number 3.

Whats the slope of (-3,-2) and (5,4)
Sphinxa [80]
Hello,

Slope is rise/run, or y/x, and if you are given two pairs of points, this is the equation needed:  (y2-y1) over (x2-x1).

Let me plug in the numbers: (4-(-2) over 5-(-3). And that is 6/8, which then is simplified to 3/4. So the slope of those two given points is 3/4. We do not divide or simplify it into a decimal because slope is a fraction, so we leave 3/4 as it is.

Hope this helps, and that my explanation is not too confusing!

What is the square root of 28x to the third power y to the third power
Colt1911 [192]

Hello!

√28x³y³ is equal to 2xy\sqrt{7xy}

We can find this solution through the following steps.

  1. Rewriting the equation by factoring 4 from 28, factoring out x², and factoring out y²
  2. We then can rewrite 4 as 2² in our equation, leaving us with \sqrt{2^{2}*7*(x^{2}x)*y^{2}y }
  3. We will then move our x and 7, and rewrite 2^{2}*x^{2}* y^{2} as (2xy)^{2}
  4. We can then pull the terms from the radical leaving us with 2xy\sqrt{7xy}
