How does government and law in the U.S. today reflect English Parliamentary traditions? In other words, what English traditions
natali 33 [55]

Answer:

Four English traditions and laws have the US copied from England:

The MAGNA CARTA or GREAT CHARTER which was signed by John Lockland in the year 1215. He was forced to sign because the Barons rebelled against his taxation abuses. In clause 39, this document states no free man could be imprisoned or punished “unless by the lawful judgment of his peers, or by the law of the land”. This clause is the antecedent of the trial by jury and equality of all before the law.

Two-House Legislature which emulates the English Parliament with The House of Lords and The House of Commons.

Sergeants-At-Arms: after Nicholas Maudit was named by King Henry V (1415) "the first House of Commons sergeant-at-arms", sergeants had long functioned as bodyguards.

We the People: The philosopher John Locke, after the Glorious Revolution, wrote a book called “The Second Treatise of Government,” in which he argues that people and government have a "social contract" that both parties legitimize.

d1i1m1o1n [39]

There were numerous things that changed in the Americas and its native population after the Europeans arrived, but it was not just the Native Americans that were influenced, the Europeans were affected by some things as well.

One major effect was the spreading of diseases by the Europeans on the Native Americans. This was the prime reason that they started to die out rapidly and almost went extinct.

The Europeans too were affected by the Native American diseases, so they had lot of problems with several problems, such as syphilis, so lot of people died because of it.

Another major influence was the displacement of the Native Americans. The Europeans managed to overpower them and took over their territories, forcing the Native Americans to move westward into new territories where they had to engage in war with other tribes in order to get the land.
