Answer:

AM = 900

CI = 500

I have to be honest, this is the most ridiculously worded question of this type that I have ever seen... ask you teacher, why it was so important to force you to solve it using only one variable?

Step-by-step explanation:

(AM) + (1400-AM) = 1400

2(AM) + 3(1400 - AM) = 3300

2AM + 4200 -3AM = 3300

-AM = -900

AM = 900

CI = 500

1. If 9 students sharpen 18 pencils in 2 minutes, how many students will it take to sharpen 18 pencils in 1 minute?
Ad libitum [116K]
A) If 9 students sharpen 18 pencils in 2 minutes,Then if the time is halved, it will take twice as many men to sharpen 18 pencils.Hence it will take 18 students to sharpen 18 pencils in one minute B) y & 1/x. Then y = K/x where K is our constant of proportionality.Then K = yx. When x = -64 and y = -16 then K = -64 * -16 = 1024. Option DC) When x = 3 y = 8. So for an inverse variation K as calculated from B = 3 * 8 = 24.Then when K = 24 and y = 6; we have 24 = 6x. Hence x = 4. Option A

Strawberries cost $2 per pound. Kate buys 5 pounds and gets 20% discount on the total cost. How much does Kate pay for the straw
Tema [17]

The total cost without the discount is given by:

C = (2) * (5)\\C = 10$

Then, to find the discounted amount, we make the following rule of three:

10 $ ------------------> 100%

x ----------------------> 20%

From here, we clear the value of x.

We have then:

x = (\frac{20}{100}) * (10)\\x = 2

Then, the cost of the Strawberries with the discount is:

10 - 2 = 8 $

Answer:

Kate pays for the strawberries about $ 8.

It cost Bo $9.75 to send 65 text messages. How many text messages did he send if he spent $6.60?
VashaNatasha [74]

If we use $6.60 then 44 massages will go to be sent.

<h3>What are the ratio and proportion?</h3>

The ratio is the division of the two numbers.

For example, a/b, where a will be the numerator and b will be the denominator.

For example 3/8 here 3 is the numerator and 8 is the denominator the value of the fraction will be less than 1 or greater than it depends upon the numerator and denominator.

Proportion is the relation of a variable with another. It could be direct or inverse.

Given that,

$9.75 ⇔ 65 text massages

Divide by 9.75

$1 ⇔ 6.67 massages,

Multiply by 6.60

$6.60 ⇔ 44 text messages.

Hence "If we use $6.60 then 44 massages will go to be sent".
