The Marshall Plan, also known as the European Recovery Program, was a U.S. program providing aid to Western Europe following the devastation of World War II. It was enacted in 1948 and provided more than $15 billion to help finance rebuilding efforts on the continent.
Mongols welcoming traders and other foriegners was beneficial to both East and West. Trade flourished between East and West along the silk road. Goods traded between Europe and the East along with inventions and learning. Many new items such as silk and spices went to Europe. Technology went to Asia. The Mongols habit of welcoming traders finally linked East and West to a new level.
