What doe the size of the temple tell you about the value the Sumerians placed on their gods?

That's true everywhere. The larger the temple, the greater the cost, hence the larger the temple, the great the sacrifice that had to have been made to build it. Look at the medieval cathedrals, how they worked for centuries to finish their lavish houses for God's worship!
