Suppose that y varies directly with x and y = 12 when x = -2. What is x when y = -6?

X=1

Explanation:
Conduct a ratio, -2/12=x/-6

You have to find the x in this ratio so you will multiply -2 and -6 together, and multiply 12 and x together and make them equal to eachother. It would look like this.
(-6)(-2)=12x
12=12x
x=1

I hope this is right and I’m sorry if I’m wrong:((

Gas price dropped to 2.84 today yesterday’s price was 2.90 find the percentage decrease
IRISSAK [1]
Well, yesterday was 2.90 and today is 2.84, it dropped 6 pennies or $0.06.

now, if we take 2.90 to be the 100%, how much is 0.06 off of it in percentage?

\bf \begin{array}{ccll}
amount&\%\\
\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}&\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}\\
2.90&100\\
0.06&p
\end{array}\implies \cfrac{2.90}{0.06}=\cfrac{100}{p}\implies p=\cfrac{0.06\cdot 100}{2.90}
