Answer:

Alfred Hershey and Martha Chase

Explanation:

In 1952 Alfred Hershey and Martha Chase were working with bacteriophages or phages, which are viruses that infect bacteria. They knew that a phage had an outer shell of protein and an inner core of DNA. In addition, from the electron microscope observations, they also knew that during infection the virus attacks the bacterium by its tails and introduces its genetic material into the bacterium to multiply using its metabolic machinery. They radioactively labeled two sets of phages: one with 32P (which marks only DNA) and another with 35S (which marks only proteins). In two parallel experiments, they infected bacteria with viruses marked on their DNA and with viruses marked on their proteins. The cultures were shaken with a mixer to separate the virus particles from the bacterial coatings. They then performed a centrifugation to separate the phages from the bacteria, so that the larger and heavier bacteria remain in the pellet, while the phages remain in the supernatant. They found that the radioactivity of 35S appeared in the supernatant while that of 32P appeared in the sediment, from which new radioactively labeled virus particles appeared, demonstrating that DNA was the genetic material.

Small populations are more vulnerable to extinction, even with abundant resources, because of (choose any/all that apply):
KiRa [710]

Answer:

environmental stochasticity, and demographic stochasticity.

Explanation:

The small population species are prone to extinction.  Due to the process of evolution, many species raised from a single species.  This is because of variation, different individuals came and survive.  But all the species can't achieve reproductive success. They also can't adapt to the changing environment. The changing of the environment in the biodiversity is called stochasticity. The fewer Populus species can't face the natural selection. As a result, their mortality rate is more and the natality rate is high. Sometimes demographic stochasticity also responsible. The fewer reproduction results in less number of the individual over time. This causes mass extinction. The extinction of dinosaurs is an example of mass extinction. The more reproduction of the species means more variety. They can better adapt to the changing environment.  Some of the extinct animals are also living and known as living fossils. e.g. Armadillo, Platypus. The changing biodiversity and randomness of the population cause the extinction of a small population.

A 100 N force was applied to a 25 kg crate. a. What was its acceleration?
zubka84 [21]

Answer:

we know that acceleration = force / mass

we have force = 100 N

mass = 25 kg

acceleration = 100/25

= 4m/s^2 is the answer

A person with an amputated arm is feeling phantom pain originating in the missing limb. Is it true or false that giving them a p
coldgirl [10]

Answer:

The answer somehow may true because sometimes pain killing medicines can provide relief of phantom limb pain and it is minimally invasive therapy.

Mechanism of pain killing medicine Tylenol:

Pain killing medicine Tylenol also called Acetaminophen. Acetaminophen fits to a class of drugs called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). The particular mechanism of action of acetaminophen is not known. It may reduce the production of prostaglandins in the brain. Prostaglandins are substances that cause inflammation and swelling. Acetaminophen dismisses pain by uplifting the pain threshold, that is, by necessitating a greater amount of pain to develop before a person feels it. It decreases fever through its action on the heat-regulating center of the brain. Specially, it tells the center to lower the body's temperature when the temperature is elevated.

Uses of Acetaminophen:

Acetaminophen is used for the release of fever as well as twinges and pains related with many conditions. Acetaminophen relieves pain in mild arthritis but has no effect on the primary inflammation, redness, and swelling of the joint.
