Answer:

Approximately 110.6 grams remain at the beginning of the 17th day.

Step-by-step explanation:

At the beginning of the first day, the mass of the substance was 500 grams.

It decreases by 9% per day.

And we want to determine the mass of the sample at the beginning of the 17th day.

First, we need to find our ratio of decay. Since it decreases by 9% or 0.09 each day, the mass of the substance after each subsequent day will be 100% - 9% or 1 - 0.09 or 0.91 of the previous day.

We can write a exponential function to model this. An exponential function has the form:

f(x)=ar^x

Where <em>a</em> is the initial term and <em>r </em>is the rate<em>. </em>

Let <em>x</em> represent the number of days after the first day. Substitute 500 for <em>a</em> and 0.91 for <em>r:</em>

<em />f(x)=500(0.91)^x<em />

<em />

The 17th day is 16 days after the first day. So, the amount of mass remaining on the beginning of the 17th day is when <em>x</em> = 16. Substitute:

f(x)=500(0.91)^{16}

Approximate. Therefore:

f(x)\approx110.6\text{ grams}

Approximately 110.6 grams remain at the beginning of the 17th day.

An art class is planning to paint a rectangular mural with an area of 60 square feet. It has to be at least 4 feet high but no m
Strike441 [17]

Hello!

There are three possible lengths.

We need to keep in mind that the total area cant exceed 60 ft^{2}, so, knowing that, we just need to find numbers that can be multiplied giving as result 60.

First combination:

4ft(height)X15ft(width)=60 ft^{2}

Second combination:

5ft(height)X12ft(width)=60 ft^{2}

Third combination:

6ft(height)X10ft(width)=60 ft^{2}

Have a nice day!

Is that anwer the correct one
kondor19780726 [428]
No

The exponent to the power 4 means multiply the base, which is 10 here, by itself 4 times

10 x 10 x 10 x 10 = 10,000

If it was 10 x 4, it would be 40, but we're dealing with exponents here.

Kindly please explain how you got the solution.
olasank [31]
Firstly subtract 4 from both sides

Then we are left with the the cube root of 6x +12 which equals to 8

How we do we undo a cube root you say!

We exponentiate both sides to the third power!

So now we got ride of the cube root sign and are just left with:

6x+12=8^3

6x+12= 512

Subtract 12 from both sides

And you get 6x=500

Divide by six

500/6=x

Simplify

250/3

Hope this helped!
