Inclusion-exclusion formula for 3 events. write aubuc = (aub)uc and use the inclusion-exclusion formula three times to derive th
nadya68 [22]

solution:

We are going to use this property: P(A U B) = P(A) + P(B) – P(AB)

First we treat (A U B) as one event as follows:

P( (A U B) U C) = P( A U B ) + P(C) – P((A U B)C)

  = P( A U B ) + P(C) – P(AC U BC)

                            = P(A) + P(B) – P(AB) + P(C) – P(C) – P(AC U BC )

                             =P(A) + P(B) – P(AB) + P(C) –P(AC) – P(BC) + P(ABC)

                             = P(A) + P(B) + P(C) – P(AB) – P(AC) – (BC) + P(ABC)

If standard form is x-2y=6 <br> how do you get the ordered pairs?
o-na [289]
Actually the line would be y=x/2 -3, this is in y=mx+b form. And normally they give you the ordered pairs.

A rectangular piece of paper with length 35 cm and width 14 cm has two semicircles cut out of it, as shown below.
Ede4ka [16]

Answer: 336.14 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the area of the rectangle after being cut, we want to find the area of the two semicircles and subtract it from the area of the rectangle. The area of the rectangle is just base times height, or 35cm times 14cm = 490cm² . Since there are two semicircles with the same diameter, we can just solve for the area of a circle and subtract it. To find the area of the circle, we need the radius, which we get by dividing the diameter by 2. After that, we calculate the radius to be 7cm, squared and multiplied by 3.14 (area of a circle) to get 153.86 cm². Subtract the areas, and we get 490 - 153.86 = 336.14 cm²

A rectangular garden is fenced on all sides with 256 feet of fencing. The garden is 8 feet longer than it is wide. Find the leng
Mekhanik [1.2K]
This is a bit of algebra.. you do not know either side so the width you will label x and the length you will label x +8. we know that if you add all 4 sides, you will have 256 feet. x + x + (x+8) + (x+8)=256  4x+16=256, Subtract 16 from both sides and you have 4x=240. divide by 4 on both sides and you get. x=60.. That makes the width = 60ft and the length = 68ft
