I am doing a test with this question also and if i am not mistaken, the answer is bicycle. I think this because word broken is a particible, and when a word is modified, it is modifiying the specified word. So in the sentence, the participle is <u>broken,</u> and they word broken is speaking of the bicycle. So broken modifies the word bicylce. Answer: D bicycle.

Which sentence from Washington Irving's short story "The Devil and Tom Walker" is an example of indirect characterization?
Stella [2.4K]
I would say that the sentence which is an example of indirect characterization is the following one:
<span>"Tom's wife was a tall termagant, fierce of temper, loud of tongue, and strong of arm."
</span>The reason why I chose this sentence is because of the word <em>termagant, </em>meaning a violent, overbearing, turbulent, brawling, quarrelsome woman.

What is an internal conflict soda pop curtis has in the book the outsiders
GenaCL600 [577]
I want to start by saying The Outsiders is a superb book.
Okay so, Sodapop struggles with both internal and external conflicts, being the middle child and all. The main internal conflict he deals with is how to deal with his brothers constant bickering. He always has to be the middle man during there fights.
