Answer:

Constant of variation is: 15

Step-by-step explanation:

r varies directly with p and inversely with the product of s and t

It can be written as:

r ∝ p/st

When the proportionality symbol is removed, a constant is introduced which is called constant of variation

So

r = \frac{kp}{st}

Putting p = 12, t= 2, and s = 5 and r = 18

18 = \frac{k * 12}{2*5}\\18 = \frac{12k}{10}\\12k = 18*10\\12k = 180\\\frac{12k}{12} = \frac{180}{12}\\k = 15

Hence,

Constant of variation is: 15

The price to ship a box varies directly as the weight of the box in pounds. A box that weighs 10 pounds costs $10.90 to ship.
xenn [34]
Well we can say 10.90/10 = the cost per pound to ship the item
we can infer this from the above text so
10.90/10 = 1.09.
So 1.09 * 37 = 40.33
$40.33
or 40 dollars and 33 cents to ship the second box with a weight of 37lb (pounds).

Given that θ terminates in Quadrant III and tanθ 5/12= , find cscθ
Komok [63]
\bf tan(\theta)=\cfrac{opposite}{adjacent}
\qquad \qquad
csc(\theta)=\cfrac{hypotenuse}{opposite}
\\\\
-------------------------------\\\\
tan(\theta)=\cfrac{5}{12}\cfrac{\leftarrow opposite=b}{\leftarrow adjacent=a}\\\\
-------------------------------\\\\
\textit{let's use the pythagorean theorem to get the hypotenuse "c"}
\\\\\\
c^2=a^2+b^2\implies c=\pm\sqrt{a^2+b^2}\implies c=\pm\sqrt{12^2+5^2}
\\\\\\
\boxed{c=\pm 13}

now, the square root gives us the +/- version, so.. which is it?  well, the hypotenuse is just a radius unit, is never negative, just the radius unit, so just the absolute value of that or the version 13, so c = 13

now, that we know what the hypotenuse "c" is, well

  \bf csc(\theta)=\cfrac{hypotenuse}{opposite}\implies csc(\theta)\cfrac{13}{5}
