Political parties affect the political system by categorizing people's beliefs. On one end of the spectrum, conservatives believe that government infringes on their rights and things should be up to state and local government. On the other hand, liberals believe that there should be more government and that it does not infringe on our rights, but it can help us. Another reason having separate political parties is good it gives people a way to categorize their views and vote for a person with those views. Lastly, political parties affect the political system is by allowing different people's views to be expressed. In the house and senate, they have both republican and democratic parties in them; this gives them the ability for one side to share their views or bring up issues the other side may not have thought of or brought up.
