Cancers can grow into and damage blood vessels in a vital part of a body which harm body. Cancer is unchecked cell growth. Mutations in genes can cause cancer by accelerating cell division rates or inhibiting normal controls on the system, such as cell cycle arrest or programmed cell death
Cancer develops when there is damage to the genetic code of the cell - the DNA - that results in the cells growing and reproducing out of control. Most of the time when DNA becomes damaged, the cell is able to repair it or the cell simply dies. In cancer, the damaged DNA is not repaired and the cell does not die.
