Answer:

number of apples he originally had in each bag was 14 apples

Step-by-step explanation:

We are told that he had 3 bags of apples.

Now, let amount of apples in one bag be x.

Thus, total amount of apples is 3x.

We are told he gave 2 apples to his best friend, he gave 3 to his brother, and he fed 1 to his horse.

This means total given out = 2 + 3 + 1 = 6 apples.

Then, on the way home, he was chased by some dogs and dropped 1 bag.

Thus, amount of apples dropped is 1x = x

Thus;

Amount left on getting home after the entire giving and dropping is;

3x - 6 - x = 2x - 6

Now,we are told that he had 22 apples left when he got home.

Thus;

2x - 6 = 22

2x = 22 + 6

2x = 28

x = 28/2

x = 14 apples

Thus, number of apples he originally had in each bag was 14 apples

Before changes to its management staff, an automobile assembly line operation had a scheduled mean completion time of minutes. T
Sergio [31]

No, we don't have evidence to support that the mean completion time under new management has decreased but we can conclude that it remains at 15.5 minutes.

Given mean of 15.5 minutes , standard deviation of 1.7 minutes, sample size of 90 and sample mean of 15.4 minutes.

We can do the following study for conclusion:

Firstly the null hypothesis is

H_{0}: x=15.5

The alternate hypothesis is

H_{1}: x < 15.5

since the value is less than this is a one tailed test.

Z=x bar-x/d/\sqrt{n}

where x is sample mean and d is standard deviation.

Z=15.4-15.5/1.7/\sqrt{90}

=-0.1/1.7/9.4868

=-0.560

Critical value of Z at 0.1 level of significance

Z=-1.28

We fails to reject the null hypothesis since -0.560>-1,28

Hence we don't have evidence to support that the mean completion time under new management has decreased but we can conclude that it remains at 15.5 minutes.

A triangle has base 2x+1 and height 6x-3. What value of x would give an area of 240m2?
GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

The values of x which would give an area of 240m² would be:

x=-\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2},\:x=\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

The base of triangle b = 2x+1

The height of triangle h = 6x-3

The Area of the triangle A = 240 m²

The Area of the triangle has the formula

A = 1/2 × b × h

substituting b = 2x+1, h = 6x-3 and A = 240

240\:=\:\frac{1}{2}\:\left(2x+1\right)\:\times \left(6x-3\right)

480=\left(2x+1\right)\left(6x-3\right)

480=12x^2-3

Subtract 480 from both sides

12x^2-3-480=480-480

12x^2-483=0

3\left(4x^2-161\right)=0

3\left(2x+\sqrt{161}\right)\left(2x-\sqrt{161}\right)=0

Using the zero factor principle

if ab=0, then a=0 or b=0 (or both a=0 and b=0)

2x+\sqrt{161}=0\quad \mathrm{or}\quad \:2x-\sqrt{161}=0

solving

2x+\sqrt{161}=0

2x=-\sqrt{161}

Divide both sides by 2

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{-\sqrt{161}}{2}

x=-\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}

also solving

2x-\sqrt{161}=0

2x=\sqrt{161}

Divide both sides by 2

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}

x=\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}

Therefore, the values of x which would give an area of 240m² would be:

x=-\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2},\:x=\frac{\sqrt{161}}{2}

Find the perimeter of this semi-circle with diameter, d = 18cm. Give your answer as an expression in terms of pi.
OLga [1]

Answer:

The perimeter of the given semi-circle in terms of \pi is

P=9\pi cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the diameter of the semi-circle is 18cm

That is d=18cm

Therefore radius r=\frac{d}{2}

r=\frac{18}{2}

Therefore radius r=9cm

To find the perimeter of the semi-circle :

perimeter of the semi-circleP=\pi r

P=\pi\times 9 cm (where r=9 cm )

P=9\pi cm

The perimeter of the given semi-circle in terms of \pi is

P=9\pi cm
