Answer:

x = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

When two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, the corresponding angles are equal.

8x +2 = 7x + 9

Subtract 2 from both sides

8x = 7x + 9 - 2

8x = 7x + 7

Subtract 7x from both sides

8x - 7x = 7

x = 7

Answer:

x=7

Step-by-step explanation:

The 2 given angles are vertical to each other, so that means they are equal to each other.

To solve, set up an equation:

7x+9=8x+2

Solve by isolating the variable. [Subtract and divide]

7x=8x-7

-x=-7

Multiply both sides by -1 to get rid of the negative sign.

x=7

I hope this helps!

Brittany bought a dress that cost $22.50. If the sales tax is 6.5%, how much tax did she pay? PLZZ ITS TIMED
anastassius [24]

Start with your $22.50 subtotal (cost without tax)

Then, solve for 6.5% of $22.50

Set your equation up like so: 6.5/100=x/22.50

Cross multiply then you should have 100x=146.25

Solve to get 1.4625% (If you need it rounded, it's 1.5%)

1.5% ----> $1.46

$22.50+$1.56=$23.96

She spent $23.96

If a finite set S of nonzero vectors spans a vector space V , then some subset of S is a basis for V . True or False
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer: True

Explanation:

This theorem doesn't have a name unfortunately. So searching it out is a bit tricky if you don't know the right way to word things. Luckily it wasn't too hard of a find, and I managed to track it down in a linear algebra textbook.

Check out the screenshot below for the snippet of the theorem and the corresponding proof. The book simply refers to it as "theorem 1.9", which again, is an unfortunate choice of naming.

Determine whether a triangle with these side lengths would be acute, right, or obtuse: 5, 7, and 10;
sasho [114]

Answer:

obtuse

Step-by-step explanation:

Let 5 = a, 7 = b, 10 = c

if a^2 + b^2 = c^2, then the triangle is a right triangle by the converse of the Pythagorean Theorem

If a^2 + b^2 > c^2, then the triangle is an acute triangle by Theorem 8-4

if a^2 + b^2 < c^2, then the triangle is an obtuse triangle by Theorem 8-3

a^2 = 25

b^2 = 49

c^2 = 100

25 + 49 < 100, therefore the triangle is an obtuse
