Not following the Jim Crow laws would be a huge problem for African-American people depending on what they did. They could be incarcerated, fined, beaten, or even worse, lynched and killed. A famous African-American child was killed by an angry mob after a white woman claimed that his behavior was inappropriate and what's even worse is that the people who killed him were acquitted.
