1.a lot of the times gas was a problem. Bathing and washing would have solved the problem but this was not possible in the trenches. Many soldiers suffered from the effects of gas attacks for the rest of their lives.
2.Some soldiers suffered from a condition called trench foot. This was caused by standing in water and mud for a long time and losing blood circulation. In some cases, soldiers' socks started to grow on to their feet. In severe cases, soldiers had to have their feet or legs amputated (cut off).
3.Trench fever was an unpleasant disease caused by body lice during World War One.The fever was easily passed between soldiers, causing them to suffer from high fever, headaches, aching muscles and sores on the skin. It was painful and took around twelve weeks to get better from. For many soldiers, it was an illness that struck them more than once
4.Shell shock was another new illness during World War One.It was not a physical illness, but a mental one. The constant noise of explosions and guns, along with the smell and danger of the trenches made many soldiers very scared and uncomfortable. Shell shock caused soldiers to act strangely. They found life on the front line very hard to deal with and would stop being able to follow commands and do their duties properly. To begin with, officers and doctors did not understand the illness and thought the soldiers were weak. Some were sent to special hospitals to recover. Others had to carry on fighting.
None of these answers are really what got the XIX amendment passed. It was the dogged determination of women who finally over a period of 6 decades that got the vote for women. Wilson was against it for many years, but changed his mind when Carr convinced him that Women's voting rights was a good thing. Usually the vote was gained, it is written in many places, because women contributed a great deal to the war effort.
Why it was given at the state level (Wyoming, Utah for example) is not clear to me. Why there before Federal rights were gained is a mystery.
answer D is utter nonsense. by WWI, America did not need help from anyone. Not D.
I don't think E is any better. Women's right to vote was mocked by almost every newspaper of the time. Not E
C? Many countries gave women the right to vote after 1920. There were some that gave it before (Canada for example, granted the vote in 1917).
Eliminate C.
I think by a hair's width the answer is B. The war was over by 1920. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was A.
B <<<< reluctantly the answer.

Is there a passage that goes with this?
The southern economy depended very much on slavery, using slaves to pick cotton and other things for the farmers. Normally the more slaves you had, the richer you were. Slaves were very important to the southern economy because southerners depended solely on slaves' labor. The families were affected when they could no longer keep slaves so the South was very mad because this was their main source of production. Once rich families no longer had laborers, causing loss of money and crops. The whole southern economy was affected by the loss of slaves but when slaves were allowed the southern economy was booming.
