any solutions are possible for this situation?
Infinitely many solutions exist because the two situations describe the same line.
Exactly one solution exists because the situation describes two lines that have different slopes and different y-intercepts.

if a number (lets say 'y' is that number) is equal to (I.e. y = )..mathematically

now y is equal to twice the smaller number ( lets say that the smaller number is 'x' ) plus (+) 3 . that brings us to the linear equation...

y = 2x + 3;

also the second part of the question says that the same number ( I.e. 'y' here ) is twice the sum of smaller number (I.e. '2x' here ) and 1.

which gives us 2nd equation I.e.

y = 2x + 1 ;

the question is to find the possible number of solutions for both these equation

to find solution means to find all those points or say numbers which would satisfy both these equations

now for the first equation..

lets say ( y = 5 ) this means ( 2(1) + 3 )

so the solution will be ( 1, 5)

now for the second equation..

we will proceed with whatever data we know..

I.e. we know that value of ' y ' is 5, as we assumed

putting value of y in 2 nd equation we get ( 2(2)+1 )

I.e solution will be ( 2, 5)

now what does this signify...?

it signifies that there is no such point that will satisfy both these equations simultaneously..

hence we can say that there is no solution possible to this situation.

Which graph represents the function f(x) = (x – 3)2? On a coordinate plane, a parabola opens up. It goes through (negative 6, 8)
solniwko [45]

Answer:To get the graph of the given parabola, we will use the equation of the parabola to check if given points in options are lying on that parabola or not. If they lie on the graph of parabola,  then they would satisfy the equation, else not. We will use vertex form of parabola to get its vertex.

Thus, by below shown calculations, we have

Option A: On a coordinate plane, a parabola opens up. It goes through (-6, 0), has a vertex at (-2, -8), and goes through (2,0)

Mnenie [13.5K]

Two options are given to Tina. We find how much she pays for each option, and the one in which she pays less offers the better value.

Tina sends 12 text messages each day in June

June has 30 days, so in June, Tina sent 12*30 = 360 text messages.

Package A:

First 100 messages cost 3p, the next 100 cost $2 and after that each costs $1.

She sends 360 messages, with:

The first 100 costing 3p.

The next 100 costing 2p.

The final 360 - 200 = 160 costing 1p.

She pays:

100*3 + 100*2 + 160*1 = 660

Package B:

2p for each message, 360 messages, so:

360*2p = 720p.

Which package is better?

Package A costs less, thus, it offers her the better value for money in 30 days.

Another example of a problem in which a person has to choose between two packages is given in brainly.com/question/10693932

The length of a side of a triangle is 36. A line parallel to that side divides the triangle into two parts of equal area. Find t
Hitman42 [59]

Answer:

Length of BE is \frac{36}{\sqrt2}units

Step-by-step explanation:

The length of a side of a triangle is 36. A line parallel to that side divides the triangle into two parts of equal area. we have to find the length of the segment determined by the points of intersection between the line and the other two sides of the triangle.

Now, the two parts of triangle have equal area ∴ ar(ADE)=ar(BDEC)

⇒ ar(ADE)=\frac{1}{2}ar(ABC)

⇒ \frac{ar(ADE)}{ar(ABC)}=\frac{1}{2}

In ΔABE and ΔABC,

∠A=∠A     (Common)

∠ABE=∠ABC   (Corresponding angles)

By AA similarity, ΔABE is similar to ΔABC.

Hence by area side proportionality theorem

\frac{ar(ADE)}{ar(ABC)}=(\frac{BE}{BC})^2

⇒ \frac{1}{2}=\frac{BE^2}{36^2}

⇒ BE^2=\frac{36^2}{2}

⇒ BE=\frac{36}{\sqrt2}units

Hence, length of BE is \frac{36}{\sqrt2}units
