In creating the articles of confederation the founding fathers were afraid about creating a strong national government, due to their issues with parliament and king George. Americans had a strong attachment and identity with their state and they thought it would be best to keep the government close to the people. In turn, a federal government as a firm league of friendship among the states with some powers delegated to the federal government was established. The weaknesses of this system of government was that congress has no power to tax, congress has no authority over any person in any state, and in order to change the articles a unanimous vote was needed
