The papers were written in an atempt to sway publiv opinion and persuade voters towards ratification of the Constitution. It was commonly referred to as the Federalist and became the Federalist Papers in the 20th century.

The Federalist Papers are still relevant till date as federal judges refer to it in the interpretation of the Constitution. They are used to clarify and simplify what the framers of the Constitution intended.
