A "chromosome" is a strand of DNA that<u><em> carries the genes.</em></u> Each chromosome contains plenty of genes. The chromosomes come in <em>pair</em>. A person's chromones are derived from his parents:<u><em> half from his mother</em></u> and <u><em>another half from his father.</em></u> So, this means that <em>children receive chromosomes from</em><u><em> both parents.</em></u>

Just like chromosomes, <em>genes also come in pair</em>. Each parent passes a copy of their gene to each child. This then shapes the traits of their children.
