Scrooge was a miser in the story, 'The Christmas Carol"'. He is referred to as a sinner because he was greedy and only thought about making money. He never parted with his money and was unkind to his companions and servants. He never gave money for the rebuilding of oranges and for carols which made him a big sinner in the sight of the society, angels and God.
