Why did they focus on Segregated lunch counters?

Explanation:

They were inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. and his practice of nonviolent protest.Honestly they focused so much on lunch counters and school's so much much because they were afraid.They knew that more people were knowing that what they were doing was wrong.They did whatever they could and what ever they could to keep powers.So if they made segregated schools.This was like teaching children of Caucasian decent how African American's should be treated I guess.Just my point of view.
