Leg^2+leg^2=hypotenuse^2
6^2+8^2=x^2
36+64=x^2
100=x^2
Now to get x by itself you need to get rid of ^2
You do this by squat rooting both sides. The square root of 100 is 10 (10•10=100)
So 10=x
