Rotating 90° (counterclockwise): (x, y) → (-y, x)

Rotating 180° (counterclockwise): (x, y) → (-x, -y)

Rotating 270° (counterclockwise): (x, y) → (y, -x)

The easiest way to explain this is:

1) Draw a point <em>(I am going to choose (2, 4), which is in Quadrant 1)</em>

2) Now, rotate your paper <em>or graphing board</em>  90°

3) Next, assume that your x-axis is horizontal and y-axis is vertical based on your rotation which means that the point has now moved to Quadrant 2. What is the new coordinate of the point? <em>(-4, 2)</em>

*****************************************************

Rotating another 90° again is a rotation of 180° from the original point

Rotating yet another 90° is a rotation of 270°.  <em>Not to confuse you, but 270° counterclockwise is the same as 90° clockwise.</em>

Rotation Coordinate Notation About the Origin:

90–degree counterclockwise: (x, y) → (-y, x)

180–degree counterclockwise: (x, y) → (-x, -y)

270–degree counterclockwise: (x, y) → (y, -x)

Use this to help you..

Example -

The vertices of a triangle are

( 1 , 3 ) ( 3 , -4 ) , ( - 6 , -8 )

270 degrees , clockwise , rotated from origin ( x , y ) - ( y , -x )

The first vertice = ( 1 , 3 )

after rotation - ( 3 , - 1 )

The second vertice = ( 3 , -4 )

After rotation - ( -4 , -3 )

The third vertice = ( -6 , - 8 )

After rotation - ( -8 , 6 )

Hope my answer helps!

Honey's blueberry muffin recipe calls for 3 1/4 pounds of blueberries and 2 1/2 cups of muffin mix. How many cups of muffin mix
astra-53 [7]

For this case we convert the mixed numbers to improper fractions:3 \frac {1} {4} = \frac {4 * 3 + 1} {4} = \frac {12 + 1} {4} = \frac {13} {4}\\2 \frac {1} {2} = \frac {2 * 2 + 1} {2} = \frac {4 + 1} {2} = \frac {5} {2}

Now, we propose a rule of three:

\frac {13} {4}pounds of blueberries ------------->\frac {5} {2}cups of muffin mix

7 pounds of blueberries -----------------------------> x

Where the variable "x" represents the number of cups of muffin mix that Honey should use.

x = \frac {7 * \frac {5} {2}} {\frac {13} {4}}\\x = \frac {\frac {35} {2}} {\frac {13} {4}}\\x = \frac {35 * 4} {2 * 13}\\x = \frac {140} {26}\\x = \frac {70} {13}\\x = 5.38

So approximately Honey should use 5 \frac {5} {13} cups of muffin mix

Answer:

Approximately Honey should use 5 \frac {5} {13} cups of muffin mix
