The answer is unlimited resources.  Goods and services are produced from resources but overproduction can also lead to the draining of the resources used to make these goods.  We do not have unlimited resources.  The best that we can do is find ways to preserve our resources and cut back on our consumption because if we don’t we run of resources.

We indeed have scarcity due to limited resources and the unlimited wants of people. And this is a problem and will continue to cause a problem in the long run because people will always want more and more in order for them to get their desires fullfilled. However, it is a question how sustainable the two are in reality.
