In the poem “On Turning Ten” written by Billy Collins, the writer developed the central idea by writing about certain memories of their past and explains that as time passes they grew and got much more mature mindset. In the title of the poem, the first and second line says “The whole idea of it makes me feel like I’m coming down with something”. This shows how the idea of turning ten does not please the author. It also said in the fourth paragraph first line, “This is the beginning of sadness…” this shows that the author must be going through something for him to be so melancholic at such a young age.

Read Shakespeare's "Sonnet 130.”
Pepsi [2]

Answer:

Like everyone, she walks on the ground.

Explanation:

According to the excerpt from Shakespeare's "Sonnet 130", he praises his mistress and makes her seem larger than life with his descriptions and allusions. He seems enamoured to her and treats her almost like a rare piece of art.

In line 12 however, he talks about his mistress treading on the ground when she walks and the best paraphrase for that is like everyone, she walks on the ground.

Explain in your own words the purpose of Puritan ministers preaching sermons called 'jeremiads' that vehemently
MrRissso [65]

Answer:

Puritans were protestors in 16th and 17th century who scared people with their sermons.

Explanation:

“Sermon” is a religious talk given in church. Puritans wanted to purify the ''Church of England'' from the ''Roman catholic practices''. They observed that there is a decrease in the number of religious devotees of ''second-generation'' settlers. To increase this, they 'preached' a type of sermon called "jeremiad". This sermon basically wanted to scare people by stating that if anyone committed any sin, they would be tortured and burnt in hell.

By all this, people would remain Puritan and believe in God and Church.
