En el cuento Un Crimen casi perfecto de Roberto Alt, se nos cuenta la historia a través de los ojos del detective que investiga un crimen, el cuál aparentemente no tiene solución pues los principales sospechosos tienen cuartadas agregando el hecho de que el departamento de la señora Stevens no tiene signos de entrada forzada ni nada por el estilo, para todos los efectos prácticos no existen pruebas ni pistas de lo que ha sucedido, por eso éste detective dice esta frase, pues más que interés policiaco le despertaba un insterés real sobre la capacidad de éste asesino y cómo había logrado borrar todas sus huellas.

The director remains in control of pace, structure, builds and reactions as he or she works with the cinematographer and editor to stitch together a disparate collection of shots, score, sfx, cgi, audio, etc into a whole movie. The pauses, builds, responsiveness to an audience that actors read and manage on stage are the business of the director in a screen production. Once the actors have gone home there is still major work to do before it reaches the audience.
