What number should be placed in the box to help complete the division calculation? Long division setup showing an incomplete cal

culation. 16 is in the divisor, 3426 is in the dividend, and 2 hundreds and 1 tens is written in the quotient. 3200 is subtracted from 3426 to give 226. An unknown value represented by a box is being subtracted from 226.

Answer:

The unknown value is being subtracted from 226 is 160

Step-by-step explanation:

Long division setup showing an incomplete calculation

 • 16 is in the divisor
 • 3426 is in the dividend
 • 2 hundreds and 1 tens is written in the quotient
 • 3200 is subtracted from 3426 to give 226
 • An unknown value represented by a box is being subtracted from 226

so,

The dividend = 3426

The divisor = 16

2 hundreds means 200 and 1 tens means 10

∵ The quotient = 200 + 10 + x

∵ Dividend = divisor × quotient

∴ (16 × 200) + (16 × 10) + (16 × x) +remainder = 3426

∵ 16 × 200 = 3200

Subtract 3200 from the dividend

∴ 3426 - 3200 = 226

∵ 16 × 10 = 160

∴ 226- 160 = 66

⇒160is the unknown value

∵ 16 × x = 16x

∵ 66 - 16x = 0

∴ 66 = 16x

- Divide both sides by 16

∴ x = 4 and remainder = 2

∴ 3426 ÷ 16 = 200 + 10 + 4

∴ 3426 ÷ 16 = 214

∴ From the steps above the missing number subtracted from

 226 is 160

The unknown value is being subtracted from 226 is 160

Why is 5/7 less than 8/10
marshall27 [118]
So this question is just a comparison problem.
If you split a chocolate bar into seven pieces, and ate 5 of them, you would have eaten less than if it were split into 10 pieces and you ate 8.

Another way to see this is if we did it mathematically.
5/7*10/10 = 50/70
8/10*7/7 = 56/70
Now that the denominators are the same, you can compare 50 to 56 and obviously, 50 is smaller than 56.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions, just ask!

José plotted points on a coordinate plane to represent the vertices of a rectangle. The first
Tema [17]

Jose's rectangle must have equal and parallel opposite sides

The coordinates of the other points could be C(7,5) and D(7,1)

How to determine the other points?

The coordinates are given as;

A = (2,5).

B = (2,1).

To form a rectangle, each of the remaining points must have the same y-coordinates as points A and B.

So, we have:

C = (x,5)

D = (x,1)

Also, the remaining points must have the same x-coordinates.

i.e.

Cx = Dx

From the list of options, we have:

C(7,5) and D(7,1)

Hence, the coordinates of the other points could be C(7,5) and D(7,1)

Translate the sentence into an inequality.
lord [1]

Answer:

2(W - 5) ≤ -29

Step-by-step explanation:

"Twice the difference of a number and 5 is at most -29" can be expressed symbolically as follows:

2(W - 5) ≤ -29

Further explanations:

"the difference of a number and 5" is W - 5, and thus "Twice the difference of a number and 5" is 2(W - 5).

"x ≤ -29" states "x is at most -29."
