The length and width of the garden will be obtain as follows:
let the length be x ft, the width will be (x+3.5)ft
area of the bed will be:
A=length*width
11.76=x(x+3.5)
11.76=x^2+3.5x
thus
x^2+3.5x-11.76=0
solving this by quadratic formula we get:
x=[-b+/-sqrt(b^2-4ac)]/2a
thus plugging in the values we obtain
x=[-3.5+/-sqrt(3.5^2-4(-11.76*1))]/2
x=[-3.5+/-sqrt59.29]/2
x=[-3.5+/-7.7]/2
x=4.2 or -11.2
thus the length will be x=4.2 ft and the width will be x-3.5=0.7 ft

3) If you can buy one package of shallots for<br> $4, then how many can you buy with $12?
Olin [163]

Answer:

3.

Step-by-step explanation:

4$ = 1 pack

(think: what times 4 is 12? 3! so we need to muliply both sides of the equal sign by 3, so we can turn the 4 into a 12. Remember, what you do to on side, you must do to the other. )

4$ = 1 pack

*3  *3

12$ = 3 packs

so your answer is 3.

guajiro [1.7K]
Since you have parentheses, you will first multiply (q-2)*(r-3) which equals (qr+6). So now its simplified to p(qr+6) which equals pqr+p6.

If you traveled in space at a speed of 1000 miles per hour, how far would you travel in 7.5 x 10^5 hours? Write your answer in s
Lynna [10]
Basically, every zero a number has to the end, the higher the scientific notation will be. Because 1000 has three zeroes, 10^5 will go to 10^8. So, you will travel 7.5 x 10^8 miles.
