Therefore, biologically and legally he still is the father of the children. Since leaving his mate does not absolve him of his fatherhood, he still has a responsibility towards his children. The law requires that he pays child support so as to augment the finances of the partner to meet the material needs of the children.

If he still wants to be a part of the children's lives, he can contest custody in court but child support is mandatory as the children should still be cared for.
