Answer:

At CASABLANCA, the Allies met to discuss the progress of the war. Churchill wanted to convince Roosevelt that invading ITALY before France was a better plan. He argued that by attacking Italy first, Allied forces could topple MUSSOLINI'S government and divide German forces between Italy and France, thereby setting the stage for a successful invasion of the EUROPEAN mainland. Soviet leader STALIN believed that Churchill and Roosevelt were allowing Soviets to be slaughtered while the British and Americans took greater care with their own troops, which strained the Allied alliance.

Explanation:

The Casablanca Conference was held from January 14 to 23, 1943 in Casablanca, Morocco, where British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and US President Franklin Roosevelt met.

The meeting highlighted the different views the leaders had on Hitler's defeat. The British wanted to continue fighting in the Mediterranean, instead of invading Europe through the English Channel. According to British plans, an attack on Italy and Sicily would result in the Germans having to withdraw their troops to help the Italians from France and the Netherlands, which in turn would overthrow Mussolini. At the same time, it would provide bases for Allied bombing against the German war and Romanian oil industries.

In turn, Americans believed the plan would unnecessarily tie forces to the side scenes of the war and thus weaken the crossing of the English Channel. There was also controversy over Roosevelt's demand for absolute surrender.

The most important of Casablanca's decisions was the demand for absolute surrender to Germany and its allies. The decision was aimed at preventing, at least formally, Allied separate peace agreements with Germany and its allies, which strengthened confidence in the anti-Hitler coalition. Churchill and Roosevelt agreed after the North African operation to shift the war effort against Italy, which they considered to be the weakest link in the Axis powers.

To what extent did forgeign interventions of non European nations and people influence the outcome of WWI
KiRa [710]

The First World War destroyed empires, created numerous new nation-states, encouraged independence movements in Europe’s colonies, forced the United States to become a world power and led directly to Soviet communism and the rise of Hitler. Diplomatic alliances and promises made during the First World War, especially in the Middle East, also came back to haunt Europeans a century later. The balance of power approach to international relations was broken but not shattered. It took the Second World War to bring about sufficient political forces to embark on a revolutionary new approach to inter-state relations.
