the northern states- under the new ordinance made it illegal to own slaves- they also wanted the south to follow in their footsteps.

and with the slaves being freed- it gave the former slaves- ( and their descent) a voice in the passing of civil rights laws - hence amendment #15- ( african American men now have the right to vote)

well now that the north was pressuring the south to end slavery and threatning with war- the south decides to end slavery and begin preparing for the war - hence the rebel flag (THEY LOSE) and now slavery ends- and african Americans are starting their irrationally LONG journey to the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT aka NAACP, MLK jr., Rosa Parks, the riots, the march on washington, the sit ins, the boycotts, black panthers, and Malcolm X all come from the original document- the emancipation proclamation!

Maintaining enough Manpower. Enlistments would decrease after losses and after terms of enlistments were up, men would return home. This resulted in relying on militia to help win the war.
