<u><em>John Lockes take on Social Contract Theory;</em></u>

He believed that people are born with natural rights are they are protected in the state of nature. In order to protect these rights, there needed to be a government

<u><em>Thomas Hobbes take on Social Contract Theory:</em></u>

He believed that the state of nature was beyond man's control. In order to protect natural rights, we needed an absolute ruler (Leviathan). The reason for this ruler is because Hobbes believed that all men were evil against each other.
