Kevin and Randy Muise have a jar containing 85 coins, all of which are either quarters or nickels. The total value of the coins
in the jar is $ 14.25. How many of each type of coin do they have?
1 answer:
Let the number of quarter be x and that of nickels be y
total number of coins will be:
x+y=85
thus
x=85-y.........i
total amount of money will be:
0.25x+0.05y=14.25....ii
substituting i in ii we get:
0.25(85-y)+0.05y=14.25
21.25-0.25y+0.05y=14.25
7=0.2y
y=7/0.02
y=35
thus
x=85-35=50
the number of quarters was 50 and that of nickels was 35

I don't think that you put parentheses around any numbers because when I solve it with parentheses between numbers I get other numbers like 16 or 17
f(-9) means x is -9
Replace x with -9 and solve:
2/3(-9) - 6
Simplify:
-6 - 6 = -12
f(-9) = -12
He is leaving 20% tip of the bill of $58
20% extra
So total amount = 100% + 20% = 120%
120% of 58
(120/100) * 58
1.2 * 58
= 69.6
So total amount Alexi needs to pay = $69.60
the are would be 64 inches pi or approximately 200.96 inches squared
Hope this helps!
