It is empty a gallon every two and a half minutes so 2 1/2x x=gallons of water

it will take 12 1/2 minutes to completely empty since it takes 2 1/2 minutes per gallon.

the tank was full 7 1/2 minutes before Jada arrived. 10-7= 3 so it emptied 3 gallons before Jada arrived. It takes 2 1/2 mins for a gallon to empty so 2 1/2 times 3 equals 7 1/2 mins

Find an explicit function rule for the sequence 5,11,17,23,.... Use the formula a(n) = a(n-1)d and simplify fully.
Taya2010 [7]
For this problem, we know d = 6 because (11 - 5) = (17 - 11) = (23 - 17) = 6
Now, we have to use the formula:
a_{n} = a_{1} + (n-1)d
For this problem, d = 6 and a(base1) is 5, so plug it in like this:
a_{n} = 5 + (n - 1)(6)
To simplify, all you have to do is distribute the six and reduce like so:
a_{n} = 5 + ((6*n)-(6*1)) \\ a_{n}=5 + 6n - 6 \\ a_{n} = 6n-1

So, here's your answer:
a_{n} = 6n-1

Hope this helps!

hello I am trying to figure out how much rent I would have to pay if I abated the rent 30%. My rent is $610.
horrorfan [7]
If you were to get 30% backed off, lucky you !
You would then pay only the remaining 70%.

70% means 0.70

0.70 x $610 = <u>$427 </u>
