Solve the system of equations. 7x + 6y = -1 --x + 2y = 3

Mathematics
1 answer:

Answer:

X=-1

Y=1

Solve using Elimination.

Step-by-step explanation:

Multiply the second equation by 7.

The two equations are now:

7x+6y=-1

-7x +14y=21

Combine the two equations

7x and -7x cancel each other out, 14y+6y is 20y, and 21 - 1 is 20.

The equation is now

20y=20, divide 20 on both sides to get Y=1.

Now, substitute 1 as Y in the second equation for -x+2(1)=3

-x+2=3, can be simplified, by subtracting 2 from both sides. Giving us

-x=1.

Divide both sides by -1 for X=-1

Final answers being X=-1, Y=1

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have further questions!

The tread life of a particular brand of tire is a random variable best described by a normal distribution with a mean of 60,000
valina [46]

Answer: 61,750 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The p-value of the tires to outlast the warranty = 0.96

The probability that corresponds to 0.96 from a Normal distribution table is 1.75.

Mean : \mu=60,000\text{ miles}

Standard deviation : \sigma=1000\text{ miles}

The formula for z-score is given by  : -

z=\dfrac{x-\mu}{\sigma}\\\\\Rightarrow\ 1.75=\dfrac{x-60000}{1000}\\\\\Rightarrow\ x-60000=1750\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=61750

Hence, the tread life of tire should be 61,750 miles if they want 96% of the tires to outlast the warranty.

Apples are on sale for $1.20 a pound. Logan bought 3/4 of a pound. How much money did he spend on apples
kati45 [8]
What I did was turn ¾ in to a fraction (which is 75%) then turned it into a decimal (.75)
then I multiplied .75 by 1.20 and .9
So she spent 90 cents on apples
Hope I helped :)
