Let the age of father and daughter be x and y.
By the question,
x = y+28 equation i
Three years ago;
x-3 = 5 ( y- 3 ) equation ii
y + 28 - 3 = 5y - 15 ( substitute x in eq’n 2 )
y + 25 = 5y - 15
40 = 4y
y= 10
Thus daughter is 10 years old.
Father is 10 + 28 = 38 years.
