an input is any data being entered into a computer. some examples of computer inputs include letters being typed on a keyboard, sound being recorded on a microphone, or the movement of a mouse. an output is the computer's response to the input it receives. the input of typing in a password could lead to the output of unlocking one's account. the input of someone talking into a microphone could lead to the output of the same sound being played back, possibly with some sort of effect that distorts the voice.
