A mixed economy operates both capitalist economy and socialist economy . A capitalist economy is a system where private individuals controls the means of production while a socialist economy is an economy where the government controls the means of production.

America's economy differs from a command economy because a command economy is a system where the Central government makes all economic decisions. eithere the government or private individuals controls the means of production.
