The details evoke a vivid image in the reader's mind, especially when the author uses an example of a rattle. in the sentence "there was the moon facing them a large red moon that filled their eyes with light and stretched and darkened its shadow over the earth" The details that the author uses to describe the moon and how they looked and how the earth looked was extremely specific and had enough detail to paint the image in our minds.
