When graphing Y=3X-5 you want to start looking at the Y axis or the vertical line that goes up and down. You need to draw your first point or dot on the vertical line starting at negative five (-5). Then you start to go up 3 boxes and over 1 box or to the right one box because the equation has 3x in it .
