Answer:

y = 3

General Formulas and Concepts:

Pre-Algebra

Order of Operations: BPEMDAS

  1. Brackets
  2. Parenthesis
  3. Exponents
  4. Multiplication
  5. Division
  6. Addition
  7. Subtraction
  • Left to Right

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Define

y = 2x + 1

x = 1

Step 2: Evaluate

  1. Substitute in x:                    y = 2(1) + 1
  2. Multiply:                               y = 2 + 1
  3. Add:                                     y = 3

Question 1(Multiple Choice Worth 3 points)
KonstantinChe [14]

Answer:

O The value of x is less than 16.

Step-by-step explanation:

Do the actual work: solve for x:

Divide both sides by 107.06:

          16

x < -------------- = 0.149 This does not agree well with any of your answer

       107.06 choices. If I had to choose one answer, it'd be the

                                        first one, since "the value of x is less than 16" is

                                        certainly true.

We know that
the equation of a vertical parabola in vertex form
y=a*(x-h)²+k
(h,k)------> (0,5)
y=a*(x-0)²+5
y=a*x²+5
substitute the point (2,9) in the equation
9=a*(2)²+5------> 9=4*a+5-------> 4*a=9-5-----> 4*a=4-----> a=1

the equation of the vertical parabola is
y=x²+5

the equation of a horizontal parabola in vertex form
x=a*(y-k)²+h
(h,k)------> (0,5)
x=a*(y-5)²+0
x=a*(y-5)²
substitute the point (2,9) in the equation
2=a*(9-5)²------> 2=16*a------> a=1/8

the equation of the horizontal parabola is
x=(1/8)*(y-5)²

the answer is
the equation of the vertical parabola is y=x²+5
the equation of the horizontal parabola is x=(1/8)*(y-5)²
