Given:

Three integers, a, b, and c, where c is a positive integer.

The product of a and b is 6.

The product of a and c is -4.

The product of b and c is -6.

To find:

The values of a,b and c.

Solution:

According to the given information:

ab=6        ...(i)

ac=-4       ...(ii)

bc=-6      ...(iii)

From (ii), we get

a=-\dfrsc{4}{c}          ...(iv)

From (iii), we get

b=-\dfrsc{6}{c}         ...(v)

Putting a=-\dfrsc{4}{c}  and b=-\dfrsc{6}{c} in (i), we get

\dfrac{-4}{c}\times \dfrac{-6}{c}=6

\dfrac{24}{c^2}=6

\dfrac{24}{6}=c^2

4=c^2

Taking square root on both sides, we get

\pm \sqrt{4}=c

\pm 2=c

It is given that c is a positive integer. So, it cannot be negative and the only value of c is c=2.

Putting c=2 in (iv), we get

a=-\dfrsc{4}{2}

a=-2

Putting c=2 in (v), we get

b=-\dfrsc{6}{2}

b=-3

Therefore, the values of a,b,c are a=-2,b=-3,c=2.

Prove that if m + n and n + p are even integers, where m, n, and p are integers, then m + p is even. what kind of proof did you
scoray [572]
Prove that if m + n and n + p are even integers, where m, n, and p are integers, then m + p is even.
m=2k-n, p=2l-n

Let m+n and n+p be even integers, thus m+n=2k and n+p=2l by definition of even
m+p= 2k-n + 2l-n substitution
= 2k+2l-2n
=2 (k+l-n)
=2x, where x=k+l-n ∈Z (integers)
Hence, m+p is even by direct proof.

The base of a 13 foot ladder is 5 feet away from the wall. How far up the wall does the ladder reach? A)8 feet B)10 feet C)12 fe
Lisa [10]

You are solving for the height. Use the formula:

c² - b² = a²      in which c = hypotenuse

(13)² - (5)² = a²

Simplify

169 - 25 = a²

144 = a²

Isolate the a. Root both sides

√144 = √a²

a = √144

a = √(12 x 12)

a = 12

C) 12 feet is your answer
