Job-Order Costing versus Process Costing

Types of businesses using job order costing:

a. Hospital services

b. Custom cabinet making

e. Airplane manufacturing (e.g., 767s)

h. Custom furniture making

i. Dental services

l. Auto repair

m. Architectural services

n. Landscape design services

Types of businesses using processing costing:

c. Toy manufacturing

d. Soft-drink bottling

f. Personal computer assembly

g. Furniture making (e.g., computer desks sold at discount stores)

j. Paper manufacturing

k. Nut and bolt manufacturing

o. Flashlight manufacturing

Explanation:

In job order costing, the manufacturer tracks its prime costs to individual products or jobs. This means that the costs of each job can be computed separately because costs are traced to each job. Under process costing, the prime costs are tracked to the department, process or batch, and not to individual products or jobs.

sergeinik [125]

The manager should analyze the legal and ethical differences of home country compared to the host country and develop a strategy that is beneficial to the company and does not clash with the ethical and legal parameters of the host country. It is important to analyze each area that may affect the company, such as government, employee, supplier, investor and customer protectionism, and to analyze common ethical, legal and cultural standards for stakeholders and then develop policies and standards that do not negatively influence the country.

Hypernormas are very effective in solving these possible conflicts, as they guide the lowest-level norms to the highest-level ones, which are those related to fundamental principles for humanity. Which is effective to guide management in an international market.

Brooke Monroe, the Vice President of Manufacturing for Diacon Products has made a strong argument for the company to enter forei
Andrej [43]

Answer:

The answer is: If the new market proves to be big enough for Diacon Products (DP) to enter, they can always build a new facility for themselves.

Explanation:

Unless prohibited in the contract, DP will always be able to build new factories or facilities in the new markets they just entered. Their better know how on the production processes will always be an advantage for them.

For instance they might build a new cement factory in India. If India´s market for cement turns to be huge and DP decides to enter into it, of course they should be able to build a new cement plant for themselves. They will probably be able to set up the cement plant in a better way than before due to the experience they gained the first time.

Usually the worst thing to do is simply nothing. If they believe a market is so good for them to enter, then they should do it directly the first time. But if they are unsure, building a turnkey project for someone else is very good marketing research.
