H.L is a 65-year-old Caucasian male diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) 4 months ago. He just finished receiving his third o

f six chemotherapy courses 5 days ago. Yesterday morning, he was seen at his oncologist’s office for malaise, muscle weakness, and palpitations. He had splenomegaly on examination. A computerized tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen showed metastatic disease in the liver and spleen. He is admitted to the hospital with progressive disease. The physician confirms a diagnosis of acute tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) and writes a number of orders for H.J.

Answer:

The correct answer would be - renal failure, kidney stones, uric acid neuropathy and other complications.

Explanation:

The symptoms of H.J include decreased urine output, flank pain, peripheral edema. H.J. is at risk for acute kidney injury which can result in renal failure due to elevated levels of uric acid, BUN, and creatinine.

Uric acid begins to precipitate in the kidneys and leads to conditions such as uric acid nephropathy and subsequent kidney injury. ECG shows in such patients as elevated heart rate due to hyperkalemia and hypocalcemia.

- Muscle cramps, Diarrhea, Nausea, and vomiting

- Renal failure due to kidney stones because of high uric acid.

A desert plant called Kalanchoe can reproduce, either with sexual reproduction through flowers, or asexually by budding off mini
AnnyKZ [126]

Answer:

The correct answer will be- will be called "Clones" with no genetic variation thus result in less adaptability to environment.

Explanation:

Plants can reproduce by both modes of reproduction called asexual and sexual reproduction. The asexual mode of reproduction produces genetically similar offsprings in less period of time and thus helps in spreading of the species in minimum time as in the case of Kalanchoe.

The Kalanchoe can dominate a large area of the habitat using this mode of reproduction but at the cost of genetic variation.

Since asexual reproduction results in Clones with same genetic material so the descendants of the plant will be less adaptive to changing the environment as asexual reproduction does not involve genes.

Help appreciated! Compare and contrast critical thinking and an inference.
pshichka [43]
Critical thinking and inferences are both ways to come to a conclusion or decision. Both are used in everyday life to come to a decision about a particular situation. An inference is more similar to an assumption though. You don't spend as much time considering all aspects of the situation. An inference is more of a quick decision. When you engage in critical thinking, you consider all aspects of the decision. Critical thinking would take more time.
