Evaporation is the process of liquid water turning into gas (ie water vapor). The more water vapor in the air increases the humidity. The sun provides much of the energy for water to evaporate; however, some water droplets can evaporate simply due to the warm temperature even if direct sunlight isn't involved.

Condensation is when the water vapor as a gas turns into liquid again. An example of this is when you have a glass of cold water filled with ice. Note how the exterior surface of the glass will have droplets of water run down. We say that the glass "sweats". When the clouds are big enough, the water droplets will fall to the ground. This is called precipitation. Normally this means rain, but if the droplets are cold enough, then you could have hail, sleet, and/or snow.

After the water falls to the ground, it's now on the surface and we consider this surface runoff. Or simply runoff for short. A good example would be a river or a stream.

Lastly, collection is the final step of the water cycle before it restarts again. Collection is when water is absorbed into the soil or used by a person or animal. Keep in mind that even if the water is in the collection phase, it doesn't mean it's stuck in this phase forever. It will most likely be released back into the environment somehow to restart the water cycle over again. If water got trapped in this phase, then the water cycle wouldn't be possible. Some pockets of water are trapped underground, but most water gets fed back into the cycle again.
