Who claimed to have purchased the liberty bell in 1996
Mariana [72]

The Taco Liberty Bell was an April Fool's Day joke played by fast food restaurant chain Taco Bell. On April 1, 1996, Taco Bell took out a full-page advertisement in seven leading U.S. newspapers announcing that the company had purchased the Liberty Bell to "reduce the country's debt" and renamed it the "Taco Liberty Bell".

It was an Aprils fools prank at first but then it became the real thing.

Why do you think it was so important for both the British and the Americans to control the Great Lakes during the War of 1812?
DedPeter [7]

Answer:

Oliver Perry, the victor at Lake Erie, came from a distinguished family of naval officers. His father Christopher served in the Continental Navy during the American Revolution and his younger brother, Matthew, fought in the Mexican War and later led the way in opening Tokugawa Japan to the wider world.

Explanation:

At the start of the War of 1812, the United States Navy found itself completely outmatched by the many times larger Royal Navy on the open ocean, with the exception of a half-dozen heavy frigates like the USS Constitution. With the Invasion of Canada, the United States opened an entirely new naval theater where they stood on more equal rigging: the Great Lakes.

How does this sound?
kifflom [539]

Answer:

I'd say you did a very fine job! You have a nice balance of description and facts.

The sentence "Well, they aren't that good" needs work, and could be changed, especially the phrase "aren't that good" seems quite passive.

You've used "a lot" repetitively, consider changing to "many" in the conclusion sentence.

Other than that its wonderful! Fix up tiny things and you should be very proud to turn that in.
