The formula to find slope it (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

(2,4) is the first point
(6,2) is the second point

(2-4)/(6-2)
-2/4 which can be simplified to -1/2

Hope this helps

The slope for this line is -1/2 if you use the formula \frac{ y_{2} - y_{1} }{ x_{2}- x_{1} } and plug in the x and y cordinates you get negative one over two

P(x) = x^4+ax^3-x^2+bx-12 has factors of (x-2) and (x+1). Solve the equation P(x)=0
Feliz [49]

Answer:

because P(x) has factors of (x-2) and (x+1) => x = 2 and x = -1 are the solutions of P(x)

so we have:

\left \{ {{2^{4}+2^{3}a-2^{2}+2b-12   =0} \atop {1-a-1-b-12=0}} \right.\\=>\left \{ {{8a+2b=0} \atop {a+b=-12}} \right.\\\left \{ {{4a+b=0} \atop {a+b=-12}} \right.\\\left \{ {{a=4} \atop {b=-16}} \right.

=> P(x)=x^{4} + 4x^{3}-x^{2} -16x-12

With P(x) = 0

=> x^{4}+4x^{3}-x^{2} -16x-12 = 0

=> ........

[PRECALC] Verify the following trigonometric identity using sin2x + cos2x = 1
frosja888 [35]

Answer:

See below ~

Step-by-step explanation:

Identities :

  1. cot x = cos x / sin x
  2. sin²x + cos²x = 1

Changing the Left Hand Side (LHS) :

  • 1/cot x + cotx
  • 1/(cos x / sin x) + cos x / sin x
  • sin x / cos x + cos x / sin x
  • Take (sin x)(cos x) as the LCM (Least Common Multiple)
  • sin x (sin x) + cos x (cos x) / (sin x) (cos x)
  • sin²x + cos²x / cos x sin x
  • 1/cos x sin x
  • Equal to the RHS
